Irondale police have a suspect in custody following an early morning home invasion. Authorities said the man initially stole a car from Moody and drove to Irondale where he broke into a 76-year-old woman's home on Amber Hills Road. Officers said the man assaulted the woman and tried to steal her car, but crashed in the driveway.
State Troopers confirm a woman was killed in a head-on collision on Hwy 69, just west of Guntersville. Thirty-three-year-old Karie Hutchinson of Guntersville was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A man was shot dead at a Tuscaloosa gas station on Monday night. Capt. Kip Hart said Tuscaloosa police responded to a report about a shooting at the Winston Mart at 2503 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 9 p.m. They found 37-year-old Bobby Lee Herrod Jr. with several gunshot wounds at the scene.
