Birmingham, Alabama shooting at 2500 block of 16th Street North: 2 injured
One person was taken to a hospital with burns, after a fire broke out at a duplex apartment building. It happened about 7:30pm on 16th Place Southwest in Birmingham.
Prichard Police said someone was shot and killed Thursday night. Officers were called to South Leeds Avenue around 9 p.m. Investigators could not provide any other details. FOX10 News will update this story as more information is learned.6 month ago

Selma: Police Department is investigating its first homicide of 2018 after a California man was fatally shot Tuesday night. According to Lt. Tory Neely, officers responded to a home on Summerfield Road, where they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Police identified the victim as Michael Stone, 32. Police say he had been in the Selma area for two months.

Sheffield police have spent more than 24-hours looking into what caused a Florence man to be shot outside a home Sunday afternoon. After speaking with numerous witnesses, police said the case is anything but cut and dry.

A man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in Auburn Wednesday night. Police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of North Gay Street at approximately 9:05 p.m.
A man was shot dead at a convience store in Ensley just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Birmingham Police. Police and Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to a call of shots fired at King City Food Mart on Warrior Road just before 10 p.m. and found a black male in his mid-20s unresponsive in the grass behind the store, said Birmingham police West Precinct Sgt. Matthew Self. First responders tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Firefighters are working to extinguish a house fire on Seale Road in Phenix City. The house is vacant and neighbors believe the house may have been occupied by those homeless in the community. No injuries have been reported.

An accidental shooting claimed the life of a child in Bibb County on Thursday. District Attorney Michael Jackson said a 4-year-old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. Jackson said the child lived in a rural area and died on the way to the hospital.

The Alabama prison officials say a St. Clair Correctional Facility officer was attacked by an inmate on Wednesday. According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, 27-year-old convicted killer Daryl Rowell assaulted a correctional officer while being escorted to a housing area inside the prison in Springville. Officials say the officer was cut by a makeshift weapon and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Roy Moore filed a lawsuit to block Alabama from certifying Doug Jones as the winner of the U.S. Senate race. His lawyers say they want a voter fraud investigation and "eventually a new election."
